Lexington Avenue, a door opens… Daylight breaks into
the Armory. Outside, a bell rings. The choir enters silently
before singing a hymn that has no nation. A voice rises,
as if it were a reply from above. The choir disappears,
the door closes… Around the mountain, musicians along
the balconies call one another. The bell rings again…

Concert in Park Avenue Armory drill hall within No Man's Land – Christian Boltanski.
Prologue: three isolated musicians simultaneously played the song of Dawn in the Armory’s rooms
one hour before the creation.

Audience members were encouraged to record this concert using their personal handheld recording devices and send it to us. All recordings received will be merged together to create one, master composition that represents the collective of the individual experiences. Each person who submits a recording will receive a copy of the edited collective recording.
